Description of the coordinating organisation
The University of Nicosia (UNic) (www.unic.ac.cy), inheriting the well established success of Intercollege, is the largest private university in Cyprus with over 4000 students. It is an independent, co-educational, equal opportunity institution of higher education, which offers a wide range of programs to students from around the world. The University offers undergraduates studies in business, science, education and the liberal arts. Postgraduate programs have a strong social science emphasis and are currently offered in international relations, psychology, sociology, education, special education and business. International in philosophy, UNic hosts students from all over the world, in a multicultural learning environment, promoting friendship, cooperation and understanding.

Over the years it has been adopting a dynamic and proactive strategy on funded research and reaches out to all its stakeholders working with them in developing ideas for academic and applied research to better the Cyprus community, country and region. Within these parameters the University, along with its academic and research affiliated institutions that specialize in specific fields, is involved in research funded projects at both the EU and local level. In addition to this the university plays a key role within society through parallel research consortiums alongside many civil society associations and government bodies. The university has sought and developed links within the economy through active bodies such as the Business School Advisory Council and the Helix Business Incubator (spin out company), working together within industry based funded projects.
